1.Broadway Jazz

What comes to mind when you hear the word “Broadway”?
Lights—spotlights, dressing room lights, the lights of New York. The Broadway Jazz style is that very choreographic style that craves the spotlight. A flashy kind of dance born under the stage lights of grand theaters.
Broadway is the New York district famous for its theaters, known for delivering world-class entertainment. It’s a dance style marked by theatrically broad yet precise movements, often performed simultaneously by a large number of dancers.
The choreography plays with the performers’ expressiveness and character, as they need to convey emotion within a narrative. It’s a language that often includes scenic props to further enhance the rhythm and energy of those engaging steps.
The dance technique is based on modern jazz, but the style adapts with rhythms and forms depending on the story’s setting.
Cristina Pensiero will present her own choreography inspired by the “Broadway Theater” style, incorporating references to iconic dance scenes made famous by movie adaptations.
For this session, we’ll be dancing with a cane—one of the most iconic props in Cabaret, Tap Dance, and Musical Theater.
What to bring:
- Comfortable clothing that also makes you feel confident and “On Broadway”
- Socks for the warm-up part
- Heels and a cane for the choreography
2.The Roaring Twenties Dance Floor
7.30pm-9pm
Are you ready to dive into the most dazzling dance floor ever, just like the Flappers of the 1920s?
The “Roaring Twenties” were the years of economic prosperity, cultural change and exuberant optimism, and this is why the dance of that era is euphoric and effervescent.
The legs cross and kick out, the hips shake rhythmically to make the fringes dance. The elegant, feminine arms, covered by long gloves, sway and, together with the hand claps, further accentuate the movements of the feet.
A sparkling dance and at the same time a very sensual one.
Over the course of the class a 1920s choreography will be taught, through which you will study the technique of the dance’s typical steps.
