FLOORWORK Also suitable for beginners. Getting into the heart of the action—whether it’s something bold and sensual or more energetic and bright—floorwork adds an element of surprise and captures attention, giving the performance an extra boost of energy. In this introductory floorwork lesson, we will learn how to go down to the floor and transition back up fluidly. We will experiment with movements and shapes, moving from instinctive dynamics to moments of elegant stillness. We will also discuss how to integrate props and other performance elements into floorwork, and when it is best not to go down to the floor. During the lesson, we will work on hands and knees and move by rolling on the floor. It is recommended to bring knee pads if necessary. A yoga mat is highly recommended. Bring suitable dance shoes that stay securely on your feet even during rotations and dynamic movements. Wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement and makes the body visible. Kitten de Ville
Known as “The Embodiment of Burlesque,” Kitten de Ville performs across the United States and Europe, headlining alongside a variety of world-renowned musicians and performers. Kitten is recognized as one of the pioneers of the New Burlesque movement. She began her career in 1994 with the Los Angeles troupe The Velvet Hammer, whose sold-out shows were responsible for the revival of the Art of Burlesque.
Kitten has appeared in various television programs in North America and Europe. She has been featured in burlesque documentaries (Burlesque Assassins by Daphne Guinness and Burlesque Extravaganza by Grace Hall) and has acted in several independent films. Some of the music videos featuring Kitten include J-Lo’s “You Do It Well,” The Cramps’ “Ultra Twist,” and Rob Zombie’s “Feel So Numb.”
Kitten made her Hollywood film debut in Auto Focus, starring Willem Dafoe and Greg Kinnear. Photographs of Kitten de Ville have graced the covers of books, magazines, calendars, and newspapers worldwide. Her image has inspired many artists to paint her portrait in various styles. Kitten has collaborated with the world’s top photographers, including David LaChapelle and Bunny Yeager.
She has also walked the runway for acclaimed designers such as Jean-Paul Gaultier, Syren, and Agent Provocateur. Kitten de Ville is an award-winning international burlesque superstar. Some of the titles Kitten has won include Miss Exotic World 2002 and Queen of the Quake.
